Tabula Rasa Retreat Reviews

We here at Tabula Rasa Retreat often describe our treatments and approaches, and the research behind them, in blog posts. But the theories, science, and spiritual background which underpin what we do are only a fraction of what Tabula Rasa Retreat really is. Our clients are the driving force behind everything we do, and their successes, struggles, and experiences are the raison d’etre for our existence. So today we’ll be taking a look at some Tabula Rasa Retreat reviews straight from our clients’ mouths and hear what they really thought of their ibogaine experiences…

On Ibogaine’s Impact

“Sarah” came to us addicted to heroin and crack cocaine. She had difficulty imagining life without addiction and credits ibogaine with dramatically changing her mind-set and outlook.

“My experience coming here was fantastic. It was amazing. Everyone was really kind, really looked after me. Yeah, life-changing to be fair, really, really life changing. My experience was not, not what I expected at all, but quite deep and quite, it really shook everything, it shook everything out basically. I feel so much lighter, I feel so much clearer, and just, I am able to process things a lot better now.”

Many people share Sarah’s sense of having their minds opened to the possibility of life without addiction. If you’d like to learn more about the effects of addiction on the brain, and ibogaine’s ability to reverse them, click here!

On Withdrawal Symptoms

“Mr. T” came to us from Finland, where he was fearful that his addiction to heroin would prove fatal. He witnessed firsthand the power of ibogaine to minimize the painful withdrawal symptoms he was experiencing.

“I was in cold turkey, I was sweating, I was almost as if I had the flu, my eyes were teary and all the classical withdrawal symptoms… after the ibogaine treatment I’d say 97% of them got rid of me, or I got rid of them. Managing with remaining withdrawal symptoms nicely, I’ve been treated with a bit more ibogaine during the mornings, and I think it is helping… I’m not actually feeling any withdrawal symptoms as we speak, which is a major relief after several years of suffering.”

Ibogaine offers relief from withdrawals and cravings, especially for those ceasing to use opiates and opioids. This can make a world of difference in early recovery, as those in treatment feel freedom rather than pain in their first days of sobriety.

On Treating Depression And Anhedonia

Many sufferers view the inability to connect with others and experience profound emotions as the hallmarks of these two debilitating conditions. There is mounting evidence that treatment with psychedelics and oneirogenic substances can alleviate the suffering of individuals afflicted with these ailments. Andrew came to us after struggling with anhedonia and felt that ibogaine treatment made a huge difference in his outlook on life.

“Easily the best decision I’ve ever made in my life… the results were better than I ever could have hoped, the treatment was more amazing than I ever would have imagined. I have several friends I can’t wait to recommend to come here.”

While research is ongoing as to how and why ibogaine helps combat depression and anhedonia, the anecdotal evidence clearly shows that for many patients, it can be more effective than SSRIs, with fewer unpleasant side-effects.

On Ibogaine Safety

After 17 years of abusing heroin and crack cocaine, Natalie was deeply concerned about her health, and whether ibogaine treatment would be safe for her. She shared the reasons why she chose TRR, and how her experience went.

“I was really worried about health, and I’ve heard, you know, how it can affect your heart… when I spoke to people at other resorts they weren’t too fussed about getting tests…it didn’t seem like they cared about me, just, you know, get here and pay the money…here it was, like, we need these tests done, and we’ll get these stats, and the people knew what they were doing.”

At Tabula Rasa Retreat we take the safety of our clients and our responsibility for their health extremely seriously. We try to go above and beyond existing safety protocols to ensure that everyone who comes through our doors emerges from treatment in a healthy state. Ibogaine is a very powerful substance, and we would urge anyone considering the treatment to find a provider who prioritizes safety over profit. For more on ibogaine safety, click here

>On Eating Disorders And Anxiety

Amy came to us from Taiwan, seeking help in dealing with her eating disorder and anxiety. She was gracious enough to chat with us about her experience.

“I believe, people like me with eating disorders, who have tried tons of techniques, they could even by themselves, like a lecturer, but they often know of things intellectually, but we don’t feel them at heart, and iboga is a way to really drive home the things that you learn from books or even lectures or seminars. You really have to treat yourself well, you don’t have to be harsh on yourself, of course we know this, but it’s hard to really practice and Ibogaine is like, you have this already you just need to feel and be at peace with yourself.”

This is typical of one of ibogaine’s most helpful effects: it allows us to grasp, accept, and embrace the need for change in our lives, rather than just verbalizing it. Eating disorders share many commonalities with addiction, and ibogaine’s power to drive changes in our outlook is a fantastic tool for overcoming these ailments.

>On Naikan Therapy

Alex was an early patient in our Naikan program. He had a very stubborn addiction which had proved resistant to many conventional treatment modalities. He likened himself to a pistachio which wasn’t split in the middle and would be so difficult to crack that many people (including himself) would just throw it away. He felt that Naikan allowed him to open himself up, experience true joy and sorrow, and live life fully.

“Well I’ve been in ten rehabs throughout my life and I’ve done like six months, but I’ve never managed to be cracked open. This time, having to sit with myself, contemplate, think and cry, I discovered that I’ve got to stop punishing myself. Especially when my boss died and then the dogs died. It was so hard for me to move on for the last two and a half years. I used to just sit in the corner of the room, even when the room was full of people, with my hoodie up, closed off from everybody. Now I just feel free!”

Naikan Therapy is a fantastic complement to addiction treatment because it allows us to understand and deepen our connections with other people and the world as a whole. If you’d like to learn more, click here!
